Edible Maps of ND

Working...

Done!!! And quite possibly on a little bit of a sugar high...

While they were gone...

After our choir and chimes left for their tour, the rest of us headed to first grade to share some Dr. Seuss stories. SO fun to watch these guys step up to be model readers.

Choir & Chimes Tour

WOW! These guys sounded GREAT!!!

Hola!

La madre de Andrew!!! (hope that was correct...haven't had Spanish since 1999)

We are learning a little Spanish to round out one very full school year. Thanks, Katie!!!

Our Modern Biographies!

This project has been FABULOUS!!! I am SO impressed with the way everyone dove into their reading and then enthusiastically began creating beautiful writing and projects. WOW, they have grown this year!!!

National Geographic Explorer

One our favorite texts to read has been the National Geographic Explorer Magazines that arrive each month. The articles are SO interesting and the pictures are fabulous. Here, Rylee adds more detail to our main idea/topic and supporting details organizer. This article from a recent issue talked about the possibility of a food shortage due to increasing population around the world, and then showed a few new ways to either grow or make food via a food printer. We all agreed that, while the idea is cool, the nutritional content and chemical additives would probably pale in comparison to a home cooked and home grown meal. Can't replace food with powder! Or so we think...

Remember that one day...

...on April 10th when it was super warm and felt like spring? Well, that day we decided we should read outside every day for  a few minutes. And...then our nice weather ended and we haven't gotten to do it again. Augh...we need more sunshine.

Area & Perimeter

Created our names "minecraft" style. Then found the area and perimeter. Wrapped up the whole project by collecting the data on everyone's names and creating line plots to show the data.

(correct the photo orientation before uploading, and of course it's still sideways...you'll just have to strain your neck to the left or turn your computer :) )
